Our new local authority assessments allow us to provide independent assurance to people of their quality of care in their area.
We are assessing how local authorities meet their duties under Part 1 of the Care Act (2014).

Check the dates we plan to contact further local authorities before their assessments
Our assessment process for local authorities begins with an information return request. The information return is a key part of our assessment of how a local authority is carrying out its adult social care functions in England.
At the start of the assessment process we send an email notification to the director of adult social services at the local authorities where we will be starting assessments. These notification emails will be sent on the following dates in 2025.
- 10 March
- 7 April
- 12 May
- 9 June
- 14 July
- 4 August
- 1 September
