We have now started to use our new assessment approach across all our regions in England.
The next step in our journey will involve implementing our registration process and introducing more functionality on the new online provider portal.
Guidance for providers
To support this approach, we have published guidance for providers. Using feedback from providers, we have created a new guidance and regulation section on our website and updated web pages. This gives information to support providers as we use the new assessment framework. We have improved the structure of this online guidance to reflect more clearly how providers interact with us. It is now easier to download the guidance to save or print, with a link back to our previous guidance for information.
We are continuing to listen to feedback and will continue to improve and develop guidance and how we present it.
New provider portal
From 11 March, we will be launching more functions on the new provider portal. These will enable some registration activity, more notifications and functionality for users. We have shifted the timing to make sure that we can implement all these changes smoothly for providers.
We’ll continue to invite providers to join the new portal until 11 March. After that date providers will be able to sign up to the new portal without needing an invitation from us. Find out about using the provider portal.
Our current portal will continue to be fully available until 11 March when it will turn to ‘read only’. This will allow more time for providers to prepare for the changes and submit information to us.
Registering a new provider or registered manager
There will be some changes to registration to align with our new approach. We will launch a new online registration process for new provider applications on the portal, along with registering a new manager. Our website will provide information to support this process.
The process for cancelling a registration is online and we will update our forms for changing or varying current registrations, which you can submit by email.
Next steps
We continue to develop our new approach for services that we do not rate (for example, primary care dental providers). We’ll be engaging with you further on this in the coming months and start to roll this out later on this year. We will be sharing more information around assessments of the well-led key question for NHS trusts soon.
