Kindness, compassion and dignity

Regulations met

Patient feedback provided a positive view of the dental team and care provided by the practice. Patient comments included that staff were welcoming and attentive, acted with integrity and showed compassion.

Staff treated patients with kindness, respect and compassion. We observed positive interactions between staff and patients both in person and on the telephone. Staff displayed an understanding of patients’ needs and showed warmth and compassion to all patients.

Patients said staff were professional, courteous and considerate. Comments included, “Thank you. Saw (clinician) today as an emergency. As always so kind and thorough. A big thank you!” and “Excellent service, very friendly, informative and caring. Puts me fully at ease. Excellent.”

Patients felt they were treated as individuals, and their personal and cultural needs were respected.

We were provided with a patient survey which showed positive results.

People received care from staff who were aware of their responsibility to respect people’s diversity and human rights, and of the importance of privacy and confidentiality.

Staff felt respected, valued and supported in their roles and their wellbeing was supported. The provider had introduced a team building competition across all their services known as the ‘Kana Cup’ which recognised staff achievements, customer service, patient feedback and support for colleagues, and included an annual awards ceremony.
