Caring

Good

Updated 23 February 2024

People were cared for by staff who were kind and respectful. They took time to listen to people, for example knowing what people enjoyed talking about and asking about their families and past lives. Staff promoted peoples’ choice and independence in a personalised way. People were encouraged to keep active and enjoy activities they had pursued in the community as well as new opportunities. For example, the activity programme was very varied and included specialist arts and crafts with artworks displayed and enjoyed by the Endeavour community. People were able to make friendship groups and activities were adapted to include everyone. Policies and practice supported people to have maximum choice and control over their lives.

Peoples’ choices and preferences were included in their care plan. Where people were unable to make decisions for themselves due to living with dementia, mental capacity assessments had been completed and any decision made in line with legislation.

The service had a culture that was open, positive, inclusive and person centred. People were asked what they wanted and health professionals praised the service for being attentive and delivering good person centred care.

Care was personalised and staff worked to deliver person centred care which maintained peoples’ dignity with understanding. One person said, “I love to talk about gardening with the staff and I will do some in the summer.” Another person said, “Everyone is lovely. I like to do my crafting. I wouldn’t be without the staff. I like them” They showed us their completed crystal crafting and the activity co-ordinator had ensured they had plenty of resources.
