Updated 2 July 2024
Assessment activity started on 13 November and ended on 26 November 2024. Herncliffe Care Home is registered to provide nursing and personal care for up to 115 people.
At the time of inspection, the service was supporting 96 people. We conducted a responsive assessment to follow up on concerns we had received. The last rating for this service was Good. The rating has now deteriorated to Requires Improvement.
There was a manager in post who was registering with CQC. People did not raise any concerns with how their medication was managed. However, the home was not completing monthly medicines audits, which would have picked up on issues we found during the assessment. We found gaps in governance; we spoke with the manager who had already taken steps to implement more robust systems. Risks to people's safety and wellbeing have been assessed and planned. People lived in a safe environment. Staff and the manager communicated and worked with other agencies to help keep people safe. There were systems to help prevent and control infection.
