Our view of the service
We carried out this unannounced, on-site assessment on 15 November 2024 in response to information of concern. Our assessment was focussed on the safe and well-led key questions of our assessment framework. We found the practice had met regulations. Patients’ care and treatment was provided in line with current guidance, and infection control procedures were in place. Emergency equipment and medicines were available and checked in accordance with national guidance. There was effective leadership and a culture of continuous improvement. The practice had systems to identify and manage risks. The provider should improve the recruitment procedures to ensure records are held to evidence that pre-employment checks are carried out in line with current legislation. The practice is in Thornton-Cleveleys, Lancashire and provides private dental care and treatment for adults and children. There is level access to the practice for people who use wheelchairs and those with pushchairs. Car parking spaces, including dedicated parking for people with disabilities, were available near the practice. The practice had 4 treatment rooms, 2 of which were in use at the time of our assessment. The team consisted of 6 members of staff. During the assessment we spoke with the dentist who owns the practice, the trainee dental nurse and 2 receptionists.
