People in care homes receive accommodation and nursing or personal care as single package under one contractual agreement. The Care Quality Commission regulates both the premises, and the care provided, and both were looked at during this inspection. We assessed the service because there had been concerns identified regarding the quality and safety of the home. At the last inspection this care home was rated requires improvement. At this inspection we found improvements had been made and the overall rating is good. We looked at 34 quality statements.

People's experience of the service

Updated 20 August 2024

People told us they felt safe living at Claremont Care Home. People and relatives told us their needs were met, and this was observed during staff practices. However, some people shared mixed feedback about staff numbers and how responsive staff were to their needs. People told us when needed they had access to health professionals and this was monitored through daily meetings, care reviews and involvement with relevant healthcare professionals. People were supported to make choices about their care. Staff supported people to maintain their skills, independence and control. People were offered activities to participate in and when people were unable to attend support was given to people in their bedrooms. We found people provided mixed feedback about their care however, this was mainly in relation to having access to baths. People had information they needed to understand what care provision they required, and effective communication care plans were in place. There was a complaints process in place, and this was being followed however, some people told us they did not know who to inform should they have any concerns.
