Independence, choice and control
The provider promoted people’s independence, so people knew their rights and had choice and control over their own care, treatment and wellbeing. Systems were in place to promote people’s independence, their rights and to support them to have choice and control over their care. Staff led by the registered manager encouraged people to be as independent as they were able. One person told us, “The staff are so patient, they give me the time I need to try to do things for myself.” Staff also described how they obtained consent before providing care and support. The registered manager explained how they had improved person centred care and inclusivity a ‘resident of the day’ had been implemented in the service. This meant that all aspects of the person’s care arrangements, including their health, support and accommodation needs would be regularly reviewed with involvement from the person and where applicable their family and or representatives.
