Our view of the service

Date of assessment 20 August to 12 September 2024 Care Solutions Direct Head Office is a domiciliary care service providing personal care to people living in their own homes within Hampshire and surrounding areas. At the time of our assessment there were 4 people with a personal care need using the service, all receiving live-in care. This inspection was prompted because the service had not been inspected since it was registered with CQC on 14 January 2022 and information received following a safeguarding concern. This was a comprehensive assessment during which we looked at the overall quality of the service and provided a rating for the service under the Health and Social Care Act 2008. During this assessment We looked at all 5 key questions and all 33 quality statements. Based on our findings we have rated the service Good. Preservice assessments, risk assessments and care plans were in place. Although we identified additional detail was required for some individual risks the comprehensive handover between live in care staff meant this risk was mitigated. There were safe recruitment systems to ensure suitable staff were employed and staff told us they received appropriate training and support and enjoyed working for the service. The provider and service manager were actively involved and understood their roles and responsibilities for ensuring a safe and effective care service. They ensured processes were in place to promote an open culture that was inclusive to all. Staff were supported to perform their duties to a high standard. Systems of oversight and governance were in place which delivered positive results for people and the provider was open to our suggestions for minor improvements.

People's experience of this service

People and their family members told us they felt safe and were happy with the individual care staff and service as a whole. People were treated with dignity and respect by care staff who understood their individual health and care needs and ensured these were met whilst maintaining choices and independence. During our telephone calls with care staff, and meetings with the service manager and provider, we identified a positive caring culture where kindness and compassion was shown to people. The management team and staff clearly knew the service users well.
