Our view of the service
Date of Assessment: 17 February 2025 to 17 March 2025. 3 inspectors carried out an unannounced on-site visit to the home on 25 February 2025. This assessment was prompted by concerns we had received relating to safeguarding incidents at the home. The provider had a good learning culture and people could raise concerns. Managers investigated incidents thoroughly so people were protected and kept safe. The facilities and equipment met people’s needs, were clean and well-maintained and any risks were mitigated. There were enough staff with the right skills, qualifications and experience. Managers made sure staff received training and regular appraisals to maintain good working practices. Staff managed medicines well and involved people in planning any changes. People were involved in assessments of their needs. Staff reviewed assessments taking account of people’s communication, personal care and health needs. Staff worked with all agencies involved in people’s care for the best outcomes and smooth transitions when moving between services. Leaders and staff had a shared vision and culture based on listening, learning and trust. Leaders were visible, knowledgeable and supportive, helping staff develop in their roles. Staff understood their roles and responsibilities. There was a culture of continuous improvement.
People's experience of this service
People and their relatives were positive about the quality of the care provided. They felt safe and were fully involved in planning their care and understood their rights. Several people described how staff treated them kindly and made sure any personal care was done sensitively, preserving their privacy and dignity. We used a structured observation tool to assess whether they received good care. This approach showed people were included and listened to. Staff consistently interacted positively with people. People felt able to complain and were confident action would be taken and improvements would be made. People we spoke with told us they knew staff and leaders well.
