Date of Assessment: 28 January to 5 February 2025. The service is a residential care home providing support for up to 16 autistic people or people with a learning disability. We assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted. Risk assessments were completed and there was information to guide staff on how to protect people from harm. Staff understood and managed risks. The facilities and equipment met people’s needs and were clean. However, areas of the premises and some items of furniture had not been well maintained. This had been identified through the providers' quality assurance processes but had not been acted on in a timely way. The provider began replacements and improvements following our inspection visit. There were enough staff with the right skills, qualifications and experience. The registered manager had good oversight of the service. They made sure staff received training and regular support and supervision to maintain high-quality care. Staff managed people’s medicines well and these were regularly reviewed so they remained effective. Staff told us they were well supported and described a positive working environment. Care plans were person-centred, reflected people’s individual needs and had goals with their personal development. Staff followed best practice in supporting people to make choices and decisions. Staff treated people with respectful and had developed positive, caring relationships with them. People were involved in their care and support. The provider had a good learning culture; people and staff could raise concerns and make suggestions. The registered manager and staff were committed to supporting people to achieve the best possible outcomes from their care.
