Our view of the service

Droitwich Spa Hospital is part of the Circle Health Group. Droitwich Spa Hospital provides a wide range of procedures from routine investigations to surgical procedures. The hospital is registered to carry out the following regulated activities: Treatment of disease, disorder or injury; Family Planning; Surgical procedures; Diagnostic and screening procedures. There has been a registered manager in post since the service was registered on 31 January 2022. This assessment reviewed the diagnostic imaging department only. The diagnostics service provides the following: X-ray, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computed tomography (CT), ultrasound and a mobile C-arm fluoroscopic X-ray system. The C-arm is an imaging device that is based on X-ray technology and can be used flexibly in operating rooms. We visited the diagnostics service unannounced on 19 March 2024. We spoke with 11 staff including radiographers, health care assistants, administrators, radiologists, and senior managers. We spoke with 3 patients. We also reviewed 10 sets of patient records. Our last inspection of the diagnostics service was published on 23 April 2019 and rated the service as inadequate. This assessment rated the diagnostic service as good.

People's experience of this service

People we spoke with said they had a positive experience of the diagnostics service and said staff were helpful and caring. Patients provided positive feedback within the monthly patient surveys with 96% of patients who responded saying they were satisfied with the service provided. Patients also provided positive feedback about the reassurance the MRI staff provided during their scan.
