Updated 3 March 2025
Date of assessment: 3 March to 17 March 2025. The service is a residential home providing support to older people, some living with dementia. People were supported by enough staff who had the right skills, qualifications and experience. The provider had recruitment procedures in place, however, gaps in staff employment history had not been explored or explained. People were protected and kept safe. Staff understood and managed risks. People were supported to access care, treatment and support when they needed to in a way that worked for them. The facilities and equipment met people’s needs, were clean and well-maintained. However, potential risks in the environment had not always been identified and risks had not always been mitigated.
Overall, we observed staff giving people choice and control over what they wanted to do or where they wanted to go. However, we observed people’s choices not always being respected and staff not always supporting people in a timely manner which caused them distress. People and their relatives were supported to have their say and share feedback on their experiences to improve the service. People had choice in their care and were encouraged to maintain relationships with family and friends. The management team were visible and supportive. There were a range of audits to monitor quality and identify areas that could be improved. The management team were receptive and responsive to inspector’s feedback and motivated to make improvements where identified.
