Our view of the service

We carried out this on-site announced assessment on 18 September 2024. We found the practice had met regulations. Recruitment procedures reflected current legislation and there was effective leadership and a culture of continuous improvement. Patients were treated with dignity and respect and at the time of our assessment, could access care, support and treatment when required. Patients’ care and treatment was provided in line with current guidance and infection control procedures were in place. The practice had systems to manage risks. Banning Dental Leighton Buzzard is part of Banning Dental Group Limited, a dental group provider. The practice is in Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire and provides private dental care and treatment for adults and children. There was step free access to the practice via a portable ramp and a patient lift. Car parking spaces, including dedicated parking for disabled people, were available near the practice. The practice had 3 treatment rooms. During the assessment we spoke with 2 dentists, 1 dental nurse, the receptionist and the practice manager.

People's experience of this service

Two weeks before our visit, we asked the practice to encourage patients to share their views of the service with us. We did not receive any direct patient feedback. Staff gathered feedback from patients, the public and external partners and demonstrated a commitment to acting on feedback. During our assessment, we saw patient feedback from patients which had been gathered and analysed by the practice. The feedback provided a positive view of the dental team and care provided by the practice. Patients commented positively about the standards of cleanliness. At the time of our assessment, the patients felt there were enough staff working at the practice. They were able to book appointments when needed. Patients said they had confidence in the dental team. Patients told us they were given clear information to help them make an informed choice about their treatment and any associated costs. Patients felt they were involved in decisions about their care and had the opportunity to discuss this with their dentist. Patients said that they were supported to maintain their oral health. Patients commented that they felt they were treated with respect and dignity. We reviewed online patient feedback. Patients expressed high levels of satisfaction with the treatment they received. Comments included: ‘Very polite staff’, ‘I am very pleased with my treatment’, ‘Warm and friendly staff’, ‘Staff made me feel welcome and comfortable’, and ‘Very prompt bookings available’. The practice shared patient feedback with the team. We were told this was reviewed and where suggestions had been made, appropriate action would be taken.
