Our current view of the service

Good

Updated 30 December 2024

Date of assessment 2 December to 19 December 2024. We carried out this assessment to check if the provider has made improvements following our last inspection (published 8 March 2021), during which we found the provider in breach of regulations. During this assessment we found that the provider had made sufficient improvements and was no longer in breach of regulations. The overall rating and the rating for key questions safe and well-led has changed from requires improvement to good.

We assessed quality statements from the safe and well-led key questions.

We have assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted.

Right support: There were systems in place to ensure people were protected from risk of harm. Care and support were planned and delivered in a way that ensured peoples safety and welfare. Risk assessments had been undertaken which informed staff how to keep people safe.

Right care: The provider had a safe recruitment and selection processes in place. There were enough staff working for the service to meet people’s needs. People were supported to have maximum choice and control of their lives and staff supported them in the least restrictive way possible and in their best interests; the policies and systems in the service supported this practice. Where people did not have the capacity to consent, the staff acted in accordance with legal requirements.

Right culture: There were systems in place to monitor how the service was run to ensure people received a quality service. The service sought feedback from people who used the service and their relatives and acted upon. Regular audits and checks were undertaken to ensure the service was run well.

People's experience of the service

Updated 30 December 2024

We spoke with 1 relative and 6 staff including the registered manager, deputy manager, head of operations and head of quality.

Relatives felt their family member were well cared for. Where they had raised concerns, they felt listened to, actions had been taken and improvements made. We observed positive interactions which showed staff understood people’s care and social needs and adapted their approach and support in line with people’s individual preferences.
