Our view of the service

Date of assessment: 4 December to 15 January 2025. The service is a care at home service providing support to people living in their own homes. At the time of our inspection, the service supported 2 people requiring personal care.

People were protected and kept safe. Managers investigated incidents and concerns and took action to address them. Staff understood and managed risks to people. There were enough staff with the right skills, qualifications, and experience. Staff received the training and support they required to ensure the delivery of high-quality care.

People were involved in assessments of their needs and in making decisions about their care. Their care plans were regularly reviewed to take account of changes in needs and preferences. Care was based on latest evidence and good practice. Staff treated people with kindness and compassion. They protected people’s privacy and dignity and respected their choices. People were able to make changes to their care and support if they so wished.

The service provided information in formats people could understand. Staff ensured people understood their care plans to enable them to give informed consent to care. People received fair and equal treatment and were enabled to provide feedback about their care. The service worked to reduce health and care inequalities through staff training, information and feedback.

The provider supported staff wellbeing. Managers were knowledgeable and supportive. Staff felt they were treated equally and could ask for support and advice at any time. Regular quality monitoring was carried out and there was a culture of continuous improvement.

People's experience of this service

We were not able to speak with the 2 people supported by the service due to their language and communication needs. However, we received feedback from relatives involved in their care and support. They spoke positively about the quality of the care their loved ones received. They told us people were fully involved in planning their care and felt safe with the staff who supported them. They received the information they required from the service and understood their rights.

People received good quality care from knowledgeable staff who treated them as individuals and respected their personal preferences. Relatives told us people were treated with kindness, compassion and respect by reliable and professional staff. They said they were able to raise concerns, and they were confident appropriate action would be taken. Relatives told us the registered manager was approachable and responsive, and they considered the service to be well-led.
