Ruby Care is a domiciliary care service providing personal care to people in their own homes. They are a specialist ‘night care’ service with staff providing care between 10pm and 7am. People receive short term care, typically between 1 to 4 nights in total. Ruby Care provide care to enable people to return to their own homes after a stay in hospital (known as ‘discharge to assess’) and care for people nearing the end of their lives. On average, they provide care to 6 or 7 people each night.
This was a planned assessment. The assessment was carried out between 15 January 2025 and 6 February 2025. We visited the provider’s office on 29 January 2025 and met with the registered manager and both night team managers/care coordinators. We contacted 5 relatives of people who were currently using or had recently used the service. We also had feedback from 10 care staff and 4 health care professionals who work closely with the service.
At our last inspection in January 2018 the service was rated good. At this assessment, the service has remained good.
Excellent care and support was provided which met people’s individual needs and preferences. Staff treated people with kindness, sensitivity and compassion. Each person was seen as an individual. The provider took great care to ‘match’ individual carers to those receiving care. The service put people and their families at the heart of everything they did.
The service cared deeply about and promoted the wellbeing of their staff. There were enough staff with the right skills, qualifications and experience. Staff were proud to work for Ruby Care.
The service had an exceptional management team. They were visible, knowledgeable and caring, helping and supporting staff to deliver high quality care.
The service worked closely with health and social care professionals, so high quality care was provided seamlessly for people. Health and social care professionals had an excellent relationship with the service and rated them highly.
