Workforce wellbeing and enablement
At the last inspection in June 2023, staff said morale was low. They said they did not feel valued for the work they. We had found the same issues at previous inspections dating back to May 2016. At this assessment in June 2024, staff we spoke with gave positive feedback. They said they felt they had a supportive team, an approachable manager, and that it was a good environment to work. They stated things had improved somewhat since the last inspection but that there was still room for further improvement. Staff gave us examples of improvements that had come as a result of staff feedback, such as additional training for their roles.
Annual appraisals and monthly one-to-one meetings were taking place. Policies were in place to cover staff leave and sickness absence. At the last inspection in June 2023 we were told there was a Freedom to Speak Up Guardian in place, but staff did not know who this was. At this assessment, we saw a Freedom to Speak Up Guardian was in place and staff were aware of who performed this role. At the June 2023 inspection we saw there were no formal meeting arrangements in place. At this assessment we saw there were meetings taking place, however we did not see completed minutes for every meeting which had been scheduled and therefore we could not be sure how frequently these were taking place.
