During an assessment under our new approach

We carried out this announced on-site assessment on 5 March 2025.

We found the practice had met regulations.

Patients’ care and treatment was provided in line with current guidance and infection control procedures were in place.

The practice had systems to manage risks. We identified minor shortfalls in managing risks associated with fire safety, medical emergencies and medicines management. These minor shortfalls were addressed following the assessment.

Recruitment procedures reflected current legislation and there was effective leadership and a culture of continuous improvement.

Patients were treated with dignity and respect and at the time of our assessment, could access care, support and treatment when required.

The practice is in Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire and provides NHS and private dental care and treatment for adults and children.

There was step-free access to the practice and car parking spaces, including dedicated parking for disabled people, were available near the practice.

The practice had 2 treatment rooms. During the assessment we spoke with 2 dentists, 2 dental nurses, 1 receptionist and the practice manager.

During a routine inspection

We carried out this inspection as part of our schedule of inspections to check on the care and welfare of people who used this service. The inspection was announced 48 hours in advance, which meant that the provider and the staff knew we were visiting. On the day of our inspection we spoke with three people who used the service, the provider and four staff. We looked at three treatment records. People who used the service told us, "I am a long standing patient and have had very good experiences, care and treatment" and, "The dentist had been fantastic".

People told us they were always treated with dignity and respect. Throughout our inspection we saw that people were communicated with in a professional and friendly manner. People we spoke with told us, "I have no concerns, you always feel welcomed".

The practice was clean and tidy, with efficient and effective systems in place to protect people from the risks of infection.

We saw that people experienced care and treatment that met their needs because they were cared for by suitably qualified, skilled and experienced staff. Risk assessments were in place where required to protect people from any risk of harm.

We saw evidence that the provider regularly assessed and monitored the quality of service that people received and improvements were made where necessary. People we spoke with knew how to raise any concerns and information was available to inform people of the procedure they should follow.
