Governance, management and sustainability

Regulations met

The provider had implemented effective systems for governance and oversight of the service. Information presented during the inspection was clear and easy to access. All policies and risk assessments we reviewed were reflective of practice procedures, were updated and accessible to all staff.

Staff and leaders we spoke with confirmed the improvements and updates were now embedded in practice life.

At the assessment on 20 March 2025, we found the practice had made the following improvements to comply with the regulation:

Emergency medical equipment was available in line with recognised guidance. We noted that checks to confirm the temperature of the medicine’s storage fridge did not exceed recommended parameters were recorded regularly. The provider immediately took action to increase the frequency of these checks.

Records of ongoing monitoring of the effective operation of fire detection and suppression equipment were now in place.

Effective processes were established to monitor the use, issue and storage of NHS prescription pads.

Audits of radiography, infection prevention and control, disability access and antimicrobial prescribing were completed in line with guidance and action plans developed where required.

Recruitment procedures were updated to reflect recognised guidance. Processes were established to ensure all required pre-employment information was obtained.

Processes for recording of actions taken to mitigate risk from legionella, including monitoring of water temperatures and flushing of dental unit water lines and seldom used outlets were in place and completed in line with guidance.
