During an assessment under our new approach

We carried out this announced on-site assessment on 19 December 2024. We found the practice had met regulations. Patients’ care and treatment was provided in line with current guidance, and infection control procedures were in place. The practice had systems to manage risks. Recruitment procedures reflected current legislation and there was effective leadership and a culture of continuous improvement. Patients were treated with dignity and respect and at the time of our assessment, could access care, support and treatment when required. The practice is in Ingleby Barwick and provides private dental care and treatment for adults and children and NHS care for children. There was step-free access to the practice and car parking spaces, including dedicated parking for disabled people, were available near the practice. The practice had 3 treatment rooms. At the time of the assessment, there were 14 staff members. During the assessment we spoke with 2 dentists, 4 dental nurses, 1 dental therapist, 1 receptionist and the practice manager.

During a routine inspection

We spoke with two people who used the service. They told us they were happy with the service provided, were able to book convenient appointments and were aware of costs. One person said, 'We are on Denplan and pay monthly so know what is covered and what we need to pay for.' Another person said, 'The staff couldn't be nicer, I am very happy with the service.'

We found that staff were polite and friendly and people who used the service were treated with dignity and respect.

We found that people were protected from the risk of infection as care was delivered in a clean and hygienic environment.

We found that there were appropriate arrangements in place for the recruitment of staff.

We found there was an effective complaints system in place at the home.
