The service was responsive and has been rated good. People received person centred care. However, care records were not always consistently detailed. Staff understood the health and care needs of people and responded well to involve external professionals when needed. People were supported to access care in ways that met their personal needs and preferences.

Equity in experiences and outcomes

Score: 3

People told us they felt treated fairly and equally. People and relatives told us they felt people had good experiences and outcomes. For example, people were supported to retain as much independence as possible, were encouraged to eat balanced diets, and maintain family and social contacts.

Staff knew how to treat people with respect and fairness. Staff were outcome focused. They spoke with people about their experience and desired outcomes. Staff gave us several examples about how they supported people with small daily goals, working toward bigger outcomes.

Processes were in place to promote positive outcomes and experiences and to reduce discrimination. The service had policies to support this. However, records did not support this and needed improvement. We found information was either missing or recorded in daily notes and not recorded in the care plan or risk assessments. In our conversations with people, relatives, staff and the management team, we did not receive concerns in relation to people using the service being discriminated against or not having access to the care they required.
