Governance, management and sustainability
At the assessment on 8 January 2025 we found the practice had made the following improvements to comply with the regulation: The practice had recruited a number of staff members including a practice manager to ensure the team had more support and the overall improvements could be maintained as part of the day-to-day running of the practice. The practice had started to introduce the relevant policies and protocols needed for the use of closed-circuit television; however this was an ongoing process.
Since our last assessment, the management team had spent time ensuring staff were aware of and adhered to practice protocols through training, discussions and team meetings. For example, the recording and reporting of accidents and incidents. The practice had made changes to their systems relating to fire safety management, equipment and premises maintenance, hazardous substances, infection prevention and control, waste management, record keeping, staff recruitment and training and radiography. The practice had reviewed their systems and processes for learning, quality assurance and continuous improvement. Audits of radiography and IPC had been undertaken and a reminder system had been introduced to ensure these would be undertaken in accordance with recognised guidance. The practice had taken action to ensure audits of patient care records were undertaken at regular intervals to improve the quality of the service. As part of the assessment, we looked at a selection of dental care records. From the records we reviewed, improvements were noted and all met the minimum standards required.
