Our current view of the service

Requires improvement

Updated 5 August 2024

We carried out an unannounced visit to the service on 5 September 2024. We carried out this assessment due to the length of the time since the previous visit. We identified issues in relation to the development of risk management plans, ensuring care was provided in the least restrictive manner possible by undertaking mental capacity assessments and ensuring information on the administration of medicines was provided. Sandbanks Resource Centre is a care home and is run by the London Borough of Hounslow. It provides care for up to 62 people who are no longer able to live independently at home. The home is situated within a residential area of the London Borough of Hounslow. At the time of our visit there were 55 people using the service. We did not assess all quality statements. The principle of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 were not always followed to ensure care was provided in the least restrictive manner possible. Risk assessments related to people’s health and welling were not always completed to provide staff with guidance on how to manage possible risks. Staff did not always follow the provider’s medicines administration processes. The provider identified when lessons had been learned to reduce further risk following an incident and accident and these were shared with staff. People were supported to personalise their bedrooms. There were processes for infection prevention and control and staff had access to personal protective equipment. People’s care needs were assessed before they moved into the home. Staff supported people to maintain their independence. Staff felt supported by senior management at the home.
