Chalkhill Road is a ‘care home’. People in care homes receive accommodation and nursing or personal care as a single package under one contractual agreement. Chalkhill Road is a care home without nursing care. CQC regulates both the premises, and the care provided, and both were looked at during this assessment. The assessment was conducted by 2 inspectors, 1 medicines inspector and 1 expert by experience. An expert by experience (EXE) is a person who has personal experience of using similar services. Date of assessment 7 January 2025 to 13 Jan 2025. We carried out this assessment to check if the provider has made improvements following our last inspection (published 14 May 2020), during which we found the provider in breach of regulation 12 Safe care and treatment and regulation 17 Good governance Health and Social Care Act 2014 (Regulated Activity) Regulations 2008. We found during this assessment that the provider had made sufficient improvements and was no longer in breach of regulations 12 and 17. The overall rating and the rating for each key question safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led has changed from requires improvement to good. Chalkhill Road provides care and accommodation for up to 20 people who have mental health conditions, At the time of this assessment, there were 16 people using the service. As far as I know he has been at the home since July 2024 and appears to have settled in well.” We observed staff interacting with people well, demonstrating respect and treating people as equals with the view to supporting them to become more independent and move on to less restrictive accommodation.
