Date of assessment: 18 to 26 February 2025. My Homecare Sutton and Surrey is a care at home service providing support to people living with a range of needs, including those living with dementia. At the time of our assessment 54 people were receiving support with their personal care.
We undertook this assessment due to the time since our last assessment and to follow up on the previous rating for the question “Is the service well-led?” In total we reviewed 12 quality statements. The scores for these areas have been combined with scores based on the key question ratings from the last assessment.
Systems were in place to ensure people were kept safe from avoidable harm. Clear risk assessments and management plans were in place, informing staff about how to care and support the person.
People received support from care workers who knew them well and had the skills and knowledge to meet their needs. Care workers were offered and encouraged to attend a range of training courses to develop their knowledge and skills, this included courses specific to people’s diagnosis.
People and staff from all backgrounds were welcome at the service and there was a drive to improve staff’s knowledge of different religions and cultures, so people and staff received support that was respectful and free from discrimination.
A skilled and compassionate leadership team was in place, with clear oversight of the service. They were accessible and developed good working relationships with their care workers and people using the service. Care workers individual needs were taken into account and staff felt well supported.
There was a clear governance system in place and a commitment to continuous improvement. Thorough processes were in place to review the quality and safety of care delivery and make improvements where required.
