Our view of the service

Ferryview Health Centre GP Surgery is a GP practice and delivers services to 31,975 patients under a contract held with NHS England. Ferryview Health Centre GP Surgery is located at 25 John Wilson Street, Woolwich, London. The practice has a branch surgery at Holborne Road Surgery, 201-203 Holborne Road, Kidbrooke. Our assessment team visited both the main site and branch surgery as part of our assessment. We carried out this assessment in response to information of concern. We carried out remote clinical searches on the practice’s clinical record system on 12 December 2024. We carried out a site visit on 16 December 2024. The National General Practice Profiles states that the ethnic make-up of the practice area is 46.99% White, 26.55% Black, 15.6% Asian, 6.10% Mixed and 4.77% Other. Information published by Office for Health Improvement and Disparities shows that deprivation within the practice population group is in the third decile (3 of 10). The lower the decile, the more deprived the practice population is relative to others. This assessment considered the demographics of the people using the service, the context the service was working within and how this impacted service delivery. Where relevant, further commentary is provided in the quality statements section of this report. We found breaches of regulation in relation to safe care and treatment and good governance. These breaches of regulation related to monitoring of patients' care and treatment, safeguarding records and recruitment records. In instances where CQC have decided to take civil or criminal enforcement action against a provider, we will publish this information on our website after any representations and/or appeals have been concluded. We have asked the provider for an action plan in response to the concerns found at this assessment.

People's experience of this service

We reviewed the NHS England GP Patient Survey which was conducted between January and March 2024. We also reviewed feedback collected by the practice and feedback shared directly with CQC in the last 12 months. Recent survey results showed people were satisfied with the practice. There was an active patient participation group (PPG) who represented the views of people using the service. Feedback from patients was generally positive about the practice. However, we found some patients did not always receive appropriate monitoring, follow-up or management of long-term conditions.
