Rather Home Care 169-171 Queens Crescent

Rather Home Care 169-171 Queens Crescent is a large domiciliary care provider providing personal care and support to older people and younger adults with a physical disability or sensory impairment and people living with dementia.

At the time of the inspection, the service was supporting 188 people with their personal care needs. Rather Home Care 169-171 Queens Crescent was previously inspected on 02 September 2019 and rated Good, (report published 29 October 2019.) We carried out a desk-based assessment on 12 April 2024 responsive to information of concern we received about the service. The assessment was announced, and the provider received notice that it would be conducted a few days in advance. During this assessment we looked at 9 quality statements; Safeguarding; Involving people to manage risks; Safe environments; Safe and effective staffing; Independence, choice and control; Equity in experiences and outcomes; Shared direction and culture; Capable, compassionate and inclusive leaders and Freedom to speak up.

Following the assessment, the service has received an overall rating of good for all quality statements assessed.

People told us they felt safe and were aware of how to report concerns.

People told us they receive care by the same staff team consistently and were happy with the care they received.

People felt the staff who visited were trained and they always received their care even after delays.

People told us they felt confident their health care needs were met and they could access appropriate services when needed with staff’s support.

People were involved in discussions about their care to guarantee that their diverse needs were acknowledged. People told us staff interacted with them in a reassuring and comforting way. Both people and their family members provided examples of the staff’s kind and compassionate treatment.

People told us they were supported to maintain their independence and were given choice and control over their care and support.

People told us that they felt confident to communicate with staff any wishes or changes in their care needs.

However, some people said that there were delays in staff calls and they did not get notified in time of these delays.
