During an assessment of Patient transport services

Date of the assessment: 12 November 2024. The service provides a patient transport service. They specialise in transporting patients whose primary diagnosis or need relates to their mental health rather than physical health, and as such provide a secure transport service.

There was an emerging learning culture and patients were cared for in a safe environment. The risks to people were mostly identified. There was an effective system in place to manage concerns and incidents, and actions were taken to make improvements. There were processes in place to assess the needs of the patients using evidence-based guidance. Staff provided patients with patient-centred care. There were governance processes in place which were mostly effective. However, the culture of the service was poor , from the perspective of staff, with low staff morale. Staff did not feel valued or supported and told us they felt their mental wellbeing was not considered by the managers. Whilst we found managers were communicating learning staff told us they did not receive feedback. We found no breaches in the regulations.
