Our view of the service
Date of Assessment: 05 March 2025. The service is a residential care home which provides nursing and personal care to adults with dementia or physical disabilities. At the time of our inspection, 58 people lived at the service. The provider was previously in breach of legal regulations in relation to safe care and treatment, good governance and staffing. Improvements were found at this inspection and the provider was no longer in breach of these regulations. People were supported by staff who knew them well, who were kind, caring and treated them with dignity. Staff at the service felt well supported by the management team on site and there was an open culture where staff felt able to offer suggestions regarding service improvement. People, their relatives and staff had opportunities to offer their feedback, and the service took steps to make improvements based on this. Some improvements were required to the administration of medicines, the services internal audits had identified these issues and was in the process of implementing improvements. Professionals who visit the service were complimentary of the services staff team, approach to care and the sharing of information. The environment was clean and tidy, some areas of the home were in need of refurbishment, the service had identified this prior to the inspection and was part way through a program of refurbishment.
People's experience of this service
People who lived at the service and their relatives were positive about the staff, service offered and managers. People told us they felt safe and well looked after. People told us, “I do feel safe here, I wouldn’t want to go anywhere else.” And, “I love it here.” People told us they liked the food and had choice and control about how they spent their time. People told us, “I enjoy the food, and you get plenty.” And, “I do enjoy the activities.” None of the people we spoke to had needed to complain about the service, but everyone we spoke to said they knew how to do this if they needed to, and everyone said they felt the managers at the service were approachable. People told us that when they needed the help of health professionals for example the GP or dentist, that the service worked supported them to be seen promptly.
