Deer Park View Care Centre Home is a nursing home providing the regulated activities of personal care and nursing care to up to 60 people. The service provides support to older people. At the time of our inspection there were 54 people using the service, which was purpose built and wheelchair-accessible throughout. We conducted our on-site assessment of this service on 14 and 26 November 2024 and off-site assessment activity continued until 3 December 2024. We looked at all 3 key questions and 20 quality statements during this assessment. Based on the findings of this assessment we have rated the service good overall. People’s risks were assessed and care plans provided staff with guidance on managing risks. The provider had an up-to-date safeguarding policy and staff received safeguarding training to protect people from the risk of abuse. Staff were vetted to ensure they were safe to provide care and support, and the provider ensured there were always enough staff available. People received their medicines safely and good hygiene practices throughout the service reduced people’s risk of infection. Staff supported people to access healthcare professionals and services regularly. People’s needs were assessed and reviewed to ensure that care plans continued to be accurate and reflect their preferences. Staff supported people in line with mental capacity legislation and their consent to care and support was always sought. The service did not have a registered manager in post but was in the process of recruiting to the position. Staff expressed confidence in the acting manager and clinical lead and felt comfortable sharing their views about improvements for the service with them. The provider carried out a range of audits to confirm the quality of care and support people received to ensure their safety. The findings from audits were used to drive improvements.
