Our view of the service

Date of Assessment: 27 January to 10 February 2025. We were on site on both of these dates at the service.

St Lukes Care Home is a residential care home that is registered to provide care and support to people living in their own homes. The service is registered to support up to 5 people with learning disabilities or mental health needs. At the time of the inspection, 5 people were living at the home.

We expect health and social care providers to guarantee people with a learning disability the choices, dignity, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted. Right Support, Right care, Right culture is the statutory guidance which supports CQC to make assessments and judgements about services providing support to people with a learning disability and/or autistic people.

The provider had made improvements to the service since our last inspection in August 2021, and it is no longer in breach of regulations.

Medicines for people were now managed safely. People were supported to have choice and control and were involved in planning their care. Risks to people’s safety were assessed and plans were in place to help mitigate them. Care plans were personalised and addressed people’s needs and wishes. There were enough staff to ensure people’s safety and meet their needs.

Processes to record accidents and incidents were in place and lessons were learned from them. The provider had enough staff to ensure people’s safety and meet their needs. Staff protected people’s privacy and dignity. People were treated as individuals and their equality and diversity needs were supported and respected. People were supported to have a good quality of life. Staff communicated with people with respect, kindness and compassion.
