Our view of the service
This assessment of the long stay or rehabilitation mental health wards for working age adults
was conducted remotely between 4 and 6 June 2024. The reason for the assessment was due to concerns regarding the safe prescribing and monitoring of medication. The quality statement we focused on was "we make sure that medicines and treatments are safe and meet people's needs, capacities and preferences by enabling them to be involved in planning, including when changes happen". Due to the nature of the remote assessment we only looked at evidence within the processes category.
We assessed one quality statement from the safe key question and found areas of good practice. Medicines were managed and monitored well. The scores for this area have been combined with scores based on the key question ratings from the last inspection. Though the assessment of this quality statement indicated areas of good practice since the last inspection, our overall rating remains requires improvement.
