Our view of the service

We carried out this announced on-site assessment on 12 February 2025. We found the practice had met all regulations. Patients’ care and treatment was provided in line with current guidance, and infection control procedures were in place.  The practice had systems to manage risks. Recruitment procedures reflected current legislation and there was effective leadership and a culture of continuous improvement. Patients were treated with dignity and respect and at the time of our assessment, could access care, support and treatment when required. The practice is in Salisbury and provides private dental care and treatment for adults and children. The practice had 2 treatment rooms.  We were shown detailed plans for major refurbishment works which were due to commence. We were given assurance that during this time patients’ oral health needs would be fully accommodated throughout. The practice had installed a temporary dental treatment unit in the car park of the practice which contained everything the practice needed to maintain a full-service during building works. During the assessment we spoke with the principal dentist, hygiene therapist, 2 dental nurses and external compliance lead.

People's experience of this service

Two weeks before our onsite assessment, we asked the practice to encourage patients to share their views of the service with us. We received feedback from 7 patients. Feedback included, “The service and staff are always professional and diligent in their work. The hygienist does a wonderful job, and the lead dentist always provides very good and honest dental care. Dental work s never being carried out unnecessarily. I always feel the advice they give is honest and fair.” “I have been using the practice for years and have never had any problems. The dental team are very informative, and appointments always run on time.” “Staff are very welcoming at the reception. Everyone was fully booked but they accommodated me so well. The nurse and dentist were perfect, and the service was amazing could not be happier.” On the day of our assessment, gathered patient feedback from a further 4 patients. Patients commented positively about the standards of cleanliness. They told us they were able to book appointments within an acceptable timescale for their needs and that they had enough time during their appointment without feeling rushed. When they were prescribed medicines, patients felt that sufficient information was given. Patients also felt they were supported to maintain their oral health and were provided with appropriate information and resources. The practice shared patient feedback with the team. We were told this was reviewed and where suggestions had been made, appropriate action would be taken.
