We carried out this announced on-site assessment on 21 January 2025.
We found the practice had met regulations.
Recruitment procedures reflected current legislation and there was effective leadership and a culture of continuous improvement.
Patients were treated with dignity and respect and at the time of our assessment, could access care, support and treatment when required.
Patients’ care and treatment was provided in line with current guidance and infection control procedures were in place.
The practice had systems to manage risks.
Circus Orthodontic Practice is part of PortmanDentex a dental group provider. The practice is in Bath, Somerset and provides NHS orthodontic care and treatment for children.
The practice is located within a multi-storey building, on the ground and lower ground floors. The practice had five dental chairs. Surgery one has two chairs and surgery two has one chair, located on the ground floor. Surgery three has two chairs, located on the lower ground floor.
Due to the structural restrictions of the building the practice was not wheelchair accessible from outside.
At the time of our assessment, the dental team consisted of 3 orthodontists, 2 orthodontic therapists, 4 dental nurses, 2 receptionists and 1 practice manager. During the assessment we spoke with 3 orthodontists, 3 dental nurses, 1 receptionist, and the practice manager.
