Our view of the service

We carried out this announced on-site assessment on 11 March 2025.

We found the practice had met regulations. Infection control procedures in place were effective.

The practice had effective systems to identify and manage risks. Recruitment procedures reflected current legislation and there was effective leadership and a culture of continuous improvement.

Patients’ care and treatment was provided in line with current guidance. Patients were treated with dignity and respect and at the time of our assessment, could access care, support and treatment when required.

The practice is in Heywood, Greater Manchester and provides NHS and private dental care and treatment for adults and children.

There was a very small step at the entrance to the practice, however most patients with mobility issues or wheelchair users were able to enter and exit the practice easily. Car parking spaces, including dedicated parking for disabled people, were available near the practice.

The practice had 5 treatment rooms. The total number of staff was 19. During the assessment we spoke with 3 dentists, 2 dental therapists, 4 dental nurses and 1 receptionist. We gathered feedback from staff and spoke to a range of staff during our assessment.

People's experience of this service

Prior to our on-site assessment, we asked the practice to encourage patients to share their views of the service with us. We received feedback from 19 patients. On the day of our assessment, we saw online patient feedback from a further 24 patients. Patient feedback provided a positive view of the dental team and care provided by the practice.

Comments included, “Great treatment. Staff are always friendly, would definitely recommend to family and friends”, “The service always to a very high standard, the staff are helpful and considerate. I have been with this practice for a very long time”, “I have always received exceptional care. The team always make you feel at ease from the minute you walk through the door to sitting in the chair having treatment. I have always been able to get an appointment suitable even during an emergency. I would highly recommend this dental surgery” and “Every visit, from routine checkups to more complex procedures, is handled with the utmost attention to detail and comfort. The dentist’s ability to explain treatments clearly and answer any questions I have makes each appointment stress-free. The entire team is friendly and welcoming, and the office is always clean and well-maintained”.

Patients commented positively about the standards of cleanliness.

Patients felt able to book appointments within an acceptable timescale for their needs and said they had enough time during their appointment without feeling rushed.

Patients told us they were given clear information to help them make an informed choice about their treatment and any associated costs. They were involved in decisions about their care.

Patients told us that when they were prescribed medicines, sufficient information was given.

Patients told us that they were supported to maintain their oral health and were provided with appropriate information and resources.
