At our last assessment we rated this key question good. At this assessment the rating has remained good. This meant people’s needs were met.

Person-centred Care

Score: 2

The provider did not always make sure people were at the centre of their care and treatment. Whilst care plans where person centred, they did not always record the care that people needed. For example, one person’s Dementia care plan stated staff should always make sure they have any memory aids with them that the person relied on. There was no information about what these aids to support memory were. These improvements have been discussed with the nominated individual and interim manager and are reflected under the breaches of regulation under safe and well-led. The provider worked in partnership with people and their relatives to decide how to respond to any relevant changes in people’s needs. People had access to appropriate professionals and health and social care services. The relatives we spoke with felt they were kept informed and updated by the service about any changes to people’s health or support needs. Comments included, “We get email updates provided to inform us when there is a change” and “Mum had a fall the other week. Staff dealt with this appropriately and were brilliant, home rang all of relatives, respected mum’s wishes and all protocols were followed.

People spoke positively about the support they received. People were supported to live healthier lives and had choice and control over the activities they participated in.

There were opportunities for people and their relatives to speak up and provide feedback about the service. People and their relatives were invited to attend meetings were they could express their views about the service.
