Equity in experiences and outcomes
People received support what reflected their wishes and preferences which led to good outcomes from their care. The registered manager explained that a person’s cultural, religious and personal references were identified, and guidance provided for care workers to ensure the care they provided reflected these wishes. They identified care workers from the same or similar cultural background to support communication and understanding their needs. A relative explained that the care workers were “very respectful” of their family member and their friends from their religious community who visited. Relatives also confirmed that they felt the care workers were kind, caring and respected their family members dignity and privacy when providing support. The registered manager told us when they supported a person to access activities outside of their home it was discussed with the person and relatives to identify what the person preferred and enjoyed doing. This information was included in the care plan and guidance was provided for care workers who recorded in the records for each visit how they supported the person to access these activities.
