Independence, choice and control
People and relatives spoke very positively about the staff who provided support. They were described as kind and caring and actively promoted people's choices and independence. Comments included, "They [staff] are all brilliant at promoting choice" and "Positive OT understand everything about independence and [name of person’s] confidence. They take all this on board. They help get [name of person] involved and where they can involve [name of person]. This has really boosted confidence."
Staff spoke very positively about how the support provided by them and multi-agency colleagues promoted people's independence, choice and control. Staff gave examples of how they promoted choice. For example one staff member told us how they planned a monthly schedule with a person and they had increased their independence in the community as a result of this. Another staff member told us about the positive impact of staff supporting people with physiotherapy and occupational therapy plans. They said, "What I have seen with every single client has been marvellous. It is so rewarding as they have all made improvements." The registered manager spoke passionately about people being at the centre of all decisions and plans. The registered manager spoke passionately about people. They said, “The person at the centre is the most important person. They are at the heart of everything we do.”
Care plans promoted people’s independence, choice and control. There was a strong emphasis on multi disciplinary collaborative work to support people's independence, choice and control.
