Although the person was kept safe, safeguarding practices had not initially been instigated in a timely way to ensure this. The provider confirmed that lessons had been learnt to ensure any future concerns were reported promptly to the appropriate authorities.
Staff were trained and identified risks were mitigated and managed well. There were enough staff with the right skills, qualifications and experience. The person’s medicines were managed safely, and they were involved in assessments and reviews of their needs. Care plans and assessments took account of the person’s communication, personal care and health needs. Staff worked in partnership with other agencies to make sure the person’s clinical needs were met. The person was treated with kindness and compassion and their staff team protected their privacy and dignity. The provider, who was also the registered manager had a shared vision with staff and a culture based on listening and learning. The registered manager, who was also the main carer for this person was knowledgeable regarding the person’s healthcare support needs. Staff confirmed the registered manager was supportive and visible. Staff understood their roles and felt able to give feedback. There was a culture of continuous learning and improvement to ensure the person received good quality care.
