Updated 18 December 2024
Date of assessment 14 January to 17 January 2025. Cordelia Court is a residential care home providing personal care for up to 34 people. The service provides support to younger and older adults some of whom are living with dementia. At the time of our assessment 28 people were living at the home. The last rating for this service was inadequate (report published 02 April 2024). We identified 3 breaches of the regulations. Conditions were imposed on the provider’s registration which required them to provide us with monthly reports on the improvements they were making to meet the regulations. We undertook this assessment to check they had followed their action plan and to confirm they now met legal requirements. This service has been in Special Measures since 02 April 2024. The provider demonstrated improvements had been made. The service is no longer rated inadequate overall or in any of the key questions. Therefore, this service is no longer in Special Measures. Quality assurance systems and processes had improved since our last inspection, however the reporting of environmental risks had not always been done in a timely manner to mitigate risks quickly within the service. Risks associated with people’s care were assessed and staff understood their responsibilities to keep people safe. Care records informed staff, for example if a person had capacity to make their own decisions or not. Staff supported people in the least restrictive way possible and in their best interests. The staff team worked in partnership with other professionals to achieve good outcomes for people. Staff were recruited safely, and medicines were administered as prescribed, by staff trained in medicines management. Staff felt valued and supported by the management team and enjoyed working for the provider.
