Responsive

At our last assessment we rated this key question good. At this assessment the rating has remained good. This meant people’s needs were met through good organisation and delivery.

Person-centred Care
The service made sure people were at the centre of their care and treatment choices and they decided, in partnership with people, how to respond to any relevant changes in people’s needs.
People received care that was personal to them. Most people received care from a regular staff team who they had been able to get to know and trust. One person told us, “I have regular carers who I know very well.” People’s care was kept under review and adjusted to meet their individual needs. Including people who were more vulnerable, especially in cold weather receiving extra wellbeing checks and phone calls. It had also led to changes in people’s care visits to better suit their needs. One person told us, “I used to have three hours per morning, but on review it was reduced to two hours with the addition of an evening visit to reduce my isolation.” Staff had enough time to provide care in an unrushed and patient manner that met people’s needs. Some people felt staff did not always understand some basic tasks such as cooking or preparing meals. We told the provider, and they took action during the inspection to address this by following up with these staff members to give them further support.
