Caring
Caring – this means we looked for evidence that the service involved people and treated them with compassion, kindness, dignity and respect. At our last assessment we rated this key question good. At this assessment the rating has remained good. This meant people were supported and treated with dignity and respect; and involved as partners in their care.

Independence, choice and control
The service promoted people’s independence, so people knew their rights and had choice and control over their own care, treatment and wellbeing. Supporting people to maintain and regain their independence and live well was at the core of the service. The registered manager told us, “We promote wellbeing and independence, we discover what people’s hopes and dreams look like.” Staff were committed to supporting people and told us various ways about how they supported people to be a part of the world. A person told us, “This is a stepping stone to move into independent living. My confidence is a lot higher.” Relatives told us the service gave them peace of mind and they appreciated the staff support. A relative told us, “My loved one [name] has flourished since living at Clifton House.” Staff told us they believed rebuilding and promoting independence was the key to better mental wellbeing. Records showed people were involved in their care and support plans, the service was person led.
