Our view of the service
Date of Assessment: 27 February 2025 to 20 March 2025. This assessment was carried out following a review of concerns received about the service. The service is a nursing home providing support to adults of all ages living with physical disabilities, dementia, nursing and mental health needs. Since our last assessment, the provider had made improvements across the service. The home environment was safe and people received their medicines as prescribed. There were enough safely recruited staff to meet people’s needs and processes were in place to reduce the risk of cross infection. People’s risks were assessed and managed and learning was taken from incidents and events. The principles of the Mental Capacity Act were applied and staff sought people’s consent before providing care and support. Care was designed around people’s individual needs and staff knew people well. Staff treated people with kindness and were respectful of their dignity.
People and relatives knew how to raise a concern about their experience and those that had felt they had been listened to. Information was provided to people in a format they could understand and people’s end of life wishes were considered and recorded. There were systems in place to monitor the quality of care provided and audits were used to drive improvements at the service and improve the quality of care. Some visiting professionals felt information was not always shared effectively throughout the staff team and we observed this to be the case in relation to people’s changing needs. However, feedback overall reflected the service had made significant improvements and the management team were approachable and responsive when concerns were raised with them.
People's experience of this service
People and relatives spoke positively about the service as a whole. Where people had raised concerns, they told us these had been addressed. Some relatives felt there could be more staff, however they did not feel this had delayed people’s care. People told us they were treated with kindness and that the service was well managed.
