Well-led
Well-led – this means we looked for evidence that service leadership, management and governance assured high-quality, person-centred care; supported learning and innovation; and promoted an open, fair culture.
At our last assessment we rated this key question good. At this assessment the rating has remained good. This meant the service was consistently managed and well-led. Leaders and the culture they created promoted high-quality, person-centred care.

Capable, compassionate and inclusive leaders
The registered manager was exceptionally passionate about delivering high standards and compassionate care which empowered people and was person centered. The registered manager told us, “We want people to take as much control of their lives as possible, we look at reducing any restrictions and improving quality of life. We want people to be happy, enjoy life and have fun.” A visiting health professional told us the registered manager had, “Exceptional compassionate leadership” of the service.
The registered manager and staff team embodied the culture and values of the organisation. This was reflected in the feedback we received from professionals. One professional told us, “I recommended them for an award last year, which they won, ‘Care home of the year’ and they received a special recommendation for ‘Care team of the year’ and ‘Manager of the year’, fully deserved.” Another professional commented, “[Name of registered manager] and their staff consistently demonstrate exceptional dedication, professionalism, and compassion in supporting residents. I would highlight their ongoing commitment to continuous improvement as a key strength.” One relative told us, “I am happy to walk away, what more could I ask for. This is down to the manager and their team; they do an amazing job.”
Staff spoke positively about the registered manager and provider. They felt able to raise any concerns and were confident they would be acted upon. Comments from staff included, “[Registered manager] is very proactive, straight but fair, I get on really well with them. I really like [operations manager] you can have a good chat, they are approachable,” and “If I had any concerns I would speak to [registered manager] they are really nice.”

Governance, management and sustainability
The service had clear responsibilities, roles, and systems of accountability. There was a schedule of quality assurance systems which supported the management team’s review of the quality of the service delivery. Areas covered included, incidents and accidents, medicines, care plans, health and safety and staffing. The audits identified areas of improvement and had action plans.
The service was meeting the principles of right support, right care, right culture. People were supported to live the life they chose, with good access to local communities.
