Staff and leaders actively listened to information about people who are most likely to experience inequality in experience or outcomes and tailored their care, support and treatment in response to this. People and their relatives told us they were treated with kindness and compassion by staff. A relative told us, “Our loved one is certainly treated with dignity and respect.” The providers core values were known by staff, they were, honesty, excellence, approach, respect and teamwork. People’s individuality was celebrated. A relative told us, “With my hand on my heart, I’m so happy my loved one is here. It changed my life too. I don’t have to worry anymore; I know they take good care of them.” Staff understood their role and responsibilities when providing care. A member of staff said, “It’s very rewarding in every way, it’s about meeting people’s needs when they can’t help themselves. Being there for them when they don’t have anyone else and fulfilling their wishes whilst ensuring their safety.” Policies and procedures underpinned working practices within the service. People’s goals and outcomes were detailed and were known to staff. A staff member told us, “We treat the residents like family. I see nothing wrong with crying or laughing with them.”
