Equity in experiences and outcomes
People and their relatives said they could share their views about their service at any time and were confident their views would be respected and acted on. People and their relatives told us as all staff were mature, the recruitment of any younger staff would complement the team and ensure sustainability.
Leaders told us they encouraged people to keep their minds and political views active. They said they did not feel there were any barriers to care. Leaders told us they respected people with protected characteristics. This included people’s age, ethnicity, faith, gender, and sexuality. They acknowledged the team was not diverse.
Processes were poor and not effective. Leaders had an equality and diversity policy. However, not all staff had completed training in this area. Where training had been completed, it was not recent. This did not ensure equality and diversity was given focus or views were explored to develop knowledge.
