Our view of the service
Date of assessment: site visit commenced on the 6 February 2025.
At our last assessment in July 2024 we rated the service requires improvement with two breaches of legal regulations in the safe management of medicines and the provider’s governance arrangements. Following our assessment, the provider sent us an action plan on how they would meet the legal requirements. This assessment, in February 2025, was completed to follow up the action plan and areas where the legal requirements had not been met. We found some improvements had been made to the safe management of medicines, although governance arrangements were not always effective.
Medicines were mostly stored safely and securely. However, during our visit we identified some shortfalls where people’s topical creams were not being stored safely and securely. There were incomplete medication administration records and medication audits had not identified the areas needed for improvement.
The provider was previously in breach of the legal regulation in relation to good governance. Some improvements were found at this assessment. As there was more oversight with regular visits from the area manager and there was a service improvement plan in place. Although we found some shortfalls which had not been identified through the provider’s audits and quality assurance visits. The provider was previously in breach of the legal regulation in relation to good governance. Some improvements were found at this assessment; however, the provider remains in breach of this regulation. We have asked the provider for an action plan in response to the concerns found at this assessment.
