Our view of the service

89 Hampton Road East is a ‘care home’. People in care homes receive accommodation and nursing or personal care as a single package under one contractual agreement. 89 Hampton Road East is a care home without nursing care. CQC regulates both the premises, and the care provided, and both were looked at during this inspection. The service is for up to 7 adults with a learning disability. At the time of our assessment, 7 people were living at the service. Date of assessment: 11 and 12 February 2025. We carried out an unannounced visit to the service on 11 February and spoke with relatives of people who lived at the service on 12 February 2025. We expect health and social care providers to guarantee people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices and independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted. ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ is the guidance CQC follows to make assessments and judgements about services supporting people with a learning disability and autistic people and providers must have regard to it. The provider demonstrated they were meeting the principles of right support, right care, right culture. People were treated as individuals and able to make choices about their lives. The staff knew people well and had good relationships with them. Not everyone could use words to communicate. The staff found ways to ensure people were able to understand them and be understood. The staff supported people in the least restrictive way and promoted their independence. Staff understood ways to ensure people felt supported and safe which reflected their individual needs.
