During an assessment under our new approach

We carried out this announced on-site assessment on 16 January 2025.

We found the practice had met regulations.

Recruitment procedures reflected current legislation and there was effective leadership and a culture of continuous improvement.

Patients were treated with dignity and respect and at the time of our assessment, could access care, support and treatment when required.

Patients’ care and treatment was provided in line with current guidance and infection control procedures were in place.

The practice had systems to manage risks.

The service provides surgical and non-surgical cosmetic treatments, some of which are not in scope of regulation and are not covered in our assessment.

Pittville Lawn Dental & Implant Clinic is part of PortmanDentex a dental group provider. The practice is in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire and provides private dental care and treatment for adults and children.

The practice is located within a four-storey building. The practice had five dental chairs, with surgery one to four located on the first floor, and surgery five on the ground floor. The practice is only accessible via a flight of steps into the building.

During a routine inspection

We spoke with four people who used the practice. They made positive comments about the service. One person told us they had been "very pleased" with the treatment they had received and that the practice was 'absolutely excellent'. Another person told us that the treatment they had received had been "very well done'. There were arrangements in place to protect children and vulnerable adults from the risk of abuse. Everyone we spoke to said that the practice environment was clean when they visited. We found that there were effective procedures in place for the decontamination of dental instruments. We also found quality monitoring systems were in place that included seeking the views of people that used the service.

In this report the name of a registered manager appears who was not in post and not managing the regulatory activities at this location at the time of the inspection. Their name appears because they were still a registered manager on our register at the time. We have advised the provider of what they need to do to remove the individual's name from our register.
